Microsoft reveals “Microsoft Band”, its fitness and life tracker

Not to be left out of the wearables race, Microsoft has just revealed its own band, Microsoft Band, that will keep track of your fitness as well as your life.

What is special about the Microsoft Band is that, unlike its counter-product the Apple Watch, it works on every phone available out there, and gets data from the plethora of existing apps and devices out there. Rather than re-invent the wheel, Microsoft has chosen to not lock itself within its own walls but instead provide a platform where your devices will seamlessly connect.

It tracks your heart rate, steps, calorie burn, and sleep quality as well as provides you with email previews, calendar alerts, and other notifications. It also maps the routes you’ve run, biked, or hiked just like the recently announced Fitbit Surge, and gives you expert-designed workouts. You can also have access to Cortana (Microsoft’s own “Siri”), incoming calls, text messages, and alarms.
