Microsoft has announced the “Surface Laptop” at the MicrosoftEDU event. The new laptop runs on a new version of Windows called Windows 10 S.
Microsoft said that it has built Surface Laptop to do two things: refresh the classic laptop form factor that our customers, especially college students, have been asking for; and make a Surface that works seamlessly to showcase the best of Windows 10 S.
Thinner, lighter, faster.
The new Surface Laptop weighs around 1.2 kg with a thickness of 14.47mm at its thickest point, rocks a 13.5” PixelSense™ Display at 3.4M pixels, made with edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has the thinnest LCD touch screen display on any laptop.
Internally, the Surface Laptop is powered by the 7th Generation Intel Core processor with i5/i7 configurations and 4GB to 16GB RAM. Available storage options are 128GB, 256GB or 512GB SSD.

Some of this personal feel comes from color
- Platinum is the Surface core. Anodization gives it new depths and life. It continues to make a timeless and bright statement.
- Graphite Gold is the ultimate neutral. The shimmer in the metal and material bring a comforting glow.
- Cobalt Blue has the depth you see in the sea or sky. It’s a color inspired by nature and feels bright yet natural.
- Burgundy’s elegance stands out. The color shifts from soft rose to deep red as you move from day to night or from inside to out.

The anodized metal on the outside feels smooth. The appearance of these together creates a harmony of color, showcasing a unique richness and depth.
Availability
Surface Laptop starts at $999 USD and will be available mid June.
