Sphero, the makers of the BB-8 have announced the SPRK+, a new kid-friendly programmable spherical robot. The new robot is designed to teach students how to code in a playful way.
The SPRK+ packs new features over its predecessor like the ability to pair it with smartphones by tapping them together. Additionally, the new version is more rugged, waterproof and features inductive charging, sensors, an accelerometer and gyroscope, and LED lights.

The Lightning Lab app which comes along the new robot gives young users the ability to create and share with others around the world on a variety of robotics projects.
