Ralph Baer, known as the man who brought the home video game consoles to our homes, has passed away at the age of 92.
Ralph Baer began his quest to bring video games to a television screen in 1966 while working as an engineer with a defence contractor company. His first gift to the world was the “Brown Box,” a prototype console which became “Magnavox Odyssey”, the first home gaming console in the world released in 1972.
In 2006, Baer earned the National Medal of Technology, which is considered the highest honor for inventors in the US.
Baer earned more than 150 patents in his life.
