LG has announced record sales numbers of smartphones sold and declared it the best quarter during the last 5 years.
Total sales of smartphones amounted to 16.8 million devices with an operating profit of USD 163.16 million. LG’s mobile division grew 39%, mainly due to the strong sales of the G3 smartphone.
The company also said that its TV business, which is ranked 2nd after Samsung, grew 5.2 percent year to day.
LG’s earnings reflected strong performance from its mobile business, the company said in a statement.
LG’s strong third quarter comes in a time when its rival Samsung is expected to report its weakest quarterly operating profit in more than three years.
