When the LG G5 launched, it was marketed as a modular phone with the accessories (or, as they like to call them, Friends) that you can swap in and out to your liking. The most recent addition to the lineup is the Action Cam LTE, an action cam in the vein of all those that came before it in an already super-saturated market.
The Action Cam LTE, as you guessed from the name, has its own 3G support so you can stream the videos directly to YouTube and streaming services (brownie points for efficiency). The camera also doesn’t rely on the LG G5 at all, and has its own Snapdragon 650 processor, 2GB RAM, microSD support up to 2TB, and a 123MP wide-angle lens. It can record ultra HD at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps, and 720p at 120fps.
Of course, it’s also dust proof and water proof for up to 30 minutes underwater.
According to LG, the device is rolling out today initially and availability for other key markets will be announced at a later date.
