Lenovo.com hacked

Feb 26

it appears that lenovo.com was hacked by what appears to be the work of Lizard Squad.

Photos of teens posing for webcam appeared on the site with a link to a twitter account criticising Lenovo for its Superfish adware scandal.

Lizard Squad, a group linked to a series of outages that hit the PlayStation Network claimed responsibility for the cyberattack.

The attack, a DNS hijacking, redirected incoming traffic to Lenovo.com to Cloudflare rather than Lenovo’s servers. Cloudflare has since disabled the account in question.

Lenovo confirmed the security breach in a statement to the Wall Street Journal.

Unfortunately, Lenovo has been the victim of a cyber attack, one effect of this attack was to redirect traffic from the Lenovo website. We are also actively investigating other aspects of the attack. We are responding and have already restored certain functionality to our public facing website, the company said.

The site is now back online with an apology landing page and a “back soon” notice.
