According to a new job listing posted by Apple, the company seems to be taking some sort of interest in virtual reality experiences. Whether the products will see the light of day in a form or another is totally up for grabs.
We are looking for a software engineer to develop UI and applications to create next generation software experiences. The individual must be able to take participate in collaborative and iterative UI design through the implementation phases & complete performant [sic] user experience code for product delivery. This engineer will create high performance apps that integrate with Virtual Reality systems for prototyping and user testing.
Also worth noting is Apple being granted a patent for a VR-like headpiece back in September, which it described as a “goggle system for providing a personal media viewing experience”. Seems exciting stuff given our recent post on Pinć, but any application of this is still at least a couple of years away.
