Users heading over to Instagram’s website will notice a new feature to the relatively barren landscape: you can now see a notifications button on the website.
Instagram first launched its web-based experience in 2012 but at the time you could only see your own feed, which helped narcissists admire their own selfies more easily. A year later, Instagram updated the web-based version to feature the actual feed and in keeping with their yearly increments, they introduced the option to search for other users in 2014.

2016 is a new year however and nearly 4 months in, Instagram users will finally be able to see if someone like their photos, tagged them or followed them all from their personal computers. Unfortunately you still do need a smartphone with the Instagram app to be able to create an account so as to login to the web-based version of the social media app.
While I wish Instagram updated their web-based version as frequently as they did the app, solely so I wouldn’t have to pick up my phone every time it buzzed, at the rate they’re updating we’ll probably get “Instagram direct” and “follow requests” over the next two years.
