IF the Titanic II sets sail in 2018, Dubai would be its maiden voyage destination

Back in 2012, Australian billionaire Clive Palmer announced the launch of the infamous Titanic cruise ship replica (known as “Titanic II”). The Titanic II was suppose to set sail this year, but it appears things didn’t go according to plans.

A spokesman for Australian billionaire, said its maiden voyage has been delayed and now postponed till 2018.

It’s been reported that the new ship will be identical to the Titanic with some modifications to keep up with today’s safety standards. The original Titanic sunk after hitting an iceberg in 1912 on its maiden voyage.

The new Titanic will of course have modern evacuation procedures, satellite controls, digital navigation and radar systems and all those things you’d expect on a 21st-century ship, said James McDonald, the global marketing director of Palmer’s Blue Star Line company.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, when finished, the new vessel will be 270 metres long, 53 meters high, weigh 40,000 tonnes and will have nine floors and 840 cabins capable of accommodating 2,400 passengers and 900 crew members. Here are some photos showing the old vs the new look (Source Blue Star Line):

Having said all that, it remains unconfirmed if this project will even see the light as it’s also not known if the construction has actually began in China as reported.

IF it does, the Titanic II’s maiden voyage will be from Jiangsu in Eastern China to our awesome city Dubai.
