HP has announced that it would be splitting into 2 companies. The Technology giant said that HP inc. will focus on PC and printers for consumers while Hewlett-Packard Enterprise will focus on business related products.
HP CEO Meg Whitman will lead the Enterprise business while HP PC and printer chief Dion Weisler will be CEO of HP Inc. The company expects to finalise the split before the end of 2015 fiscal year.
HP is currently in the middle of a massive restructuring plan and has announced massive jobs cuts due to huge losses incurred last year. Aggressive rivals such as Lenovo dethroned HP as the world’s largest PC maker in 2012.
The company’s shares rose 6% following the split report.
