Pac-Man, one of the most iconic games in history which was released in Japanese arcades on May 22, 1980 is turning 35 this week. Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced a number of festivities to commemorate the 35th anniversary.
The company has updated the mobile versions of PAC-MAN and PAC-MAN Lite with a new classic-inspired user interface. Both games are available on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch today.
Bandai Namco Entertainment is also planning a birthday bash on May 22 at Namco’s Level 257 Pac-Man restaurant in Chicago with a number of “industry VIPs” attending the event, including Pac-Man creator Professor Toru Iwatani and world record holder Billy Mitchell.
The official invitation also mentions a “Pac Man Rebooted” game, which will be announced during the event. Anyone can attend the event by purchasing tickets here.
The updated PAC-MAN mobile game is currently available for $6.99 on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
