Pac-Man, one of the most iconic games in history which was released in Japanese arcades on May 22, 1980  is turning 35 this week. Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced a number of festivities to commemorate the 35th anniversary.

The company has updated the mobile versions  of PAC-MAN and PAC-MAN Lite with a new classic-inspired user interface. Both games are available on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch today.

Bandai Namco Entertainment is also planning a birthday bash on May 22 at Namco’s  Level 257 Pac-Man restaurant in Chicago with a number of “industry VIPs”  attending the event, including Pac-Man creator Professor Toru Iwatani and world record holder Billy Mitchell.

The official invitation also mentions a “Pac Man Rebooted” game, which will be announced during the event. Anyone can attend the event by purchasing tickets here.

The updated PAC-MAN mobile game is currently available for $6.99 on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

You can still play the game on Google here.
