Corning has announced that they will be releasing Gorilla Glass 5 soon, and as per the company, the new version is capable of surviving 80% of drops from 1.6 meters.
The new glass was tested on the roughest surfaces and have survived over 20 hard drops in the lab, Corning said. Additionally, the company said the new glass was twice as good at resisting scratches and other damages compared to what’s currently available on smartphones.
The new glass is commercially available and is expected to hit devices in the next few months.
