Google is expected to launch its sub-$100 smartphones in India this month. According to the invite sent by the company, Google will make “an exciting new announcement” on September 15th. The ‘Android One’ initiative was announced back in June during Google I/0 14.
Google has partnered with Indian handset makers Micromax, Karbonn and Spice to bring these devices to India by October.
The Micromax Android One device will be a dual-SIM 4.5-inch with a removable SD card, costing less than $100, Google SVP, Sundar Pichai had said at the developers conference in San Francisco.
The launch will debut in India and eventually, the devices will make their way around other markets.
