Here’s a Google Search news you definitely should be aware of. following an announcement that was made in February, Google has now implemented a change in its search algorithm on mobile devices when it comes to website ranking. The search giant will now rank websites that are optimised for mobile devices higher when the search is performed on a smartphone.
So what does that mean?
This means that people who use Google to search on their smartphone will now only see “mobile friendly” sites showing up in the top of their search queries. Sites that do not have a mobile version will be pushed way down in results, which in turn could be damaging to businesses who still did not update. .
Find content that’s not only relevant and timely, but also easy to read and interact with on smaller mobile screens, Google said in a statement.
Worried about your website? Here are a few things you need to know:
- This change only affects search on phones. Tablets and desktops are not included.
- You can check to see if your website is mobile friendly using Google’s quick tool here.
- This change only impacts raw search results, searches that feature video, Google News and other special result types at the top not be affected.
- If the algorithm determines your unoptimized site has higher quality or more relevant content than optimized sites, it may still be ranked higher.
