Google has opened its first-ever shop in London.
The world’s first “Google shop” will sell the company’s Nexus phones and tablets range, Chromebook laptops and Chromecast TV services. The store will also have support desks to hep visitors with installations, usage and demos.
The launch is “our answer” to the try-before-you-buy shopping experience now expected by customers and led by brands such as Apple and Nike, said James Elias, marketing manager for Google UK.
Also at the store, there’s a virtual graffiti wall which allows customers to design their own Google Doodle, a surround screen that allows users to explore the planet on Google Earth and a ‘live trending’ screen of popular searches.
The pace of innovation of the devices we all use is incredible, yet the way we buy them has remained the same for years. With the Google shop, we want to offer people a place where they can play, experiment and learn about all of what Google has to offer; from an incredible range of devices to a totally-connected, seamless online life, Mr Elias said.
