Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Shmidt has hit back at Apple’s CEO Tim Cook on comments that Google’s privacy policies are weak. Shmidt said that Google’s systems are “far more secure” than what Apple has.
Schmidt told CNN Money that Google is the leader in data privacy and that Cook’s comments were incorrect and said “Someone didn’t brief him correctly on Google’s policies, that’s unfortunate for him”
In Google’s place, we have always been the leader in security and in encryption. Our systems are far more secure and encrypted than anyone else, including Apple. They’re catching up, which is great. Schmidt said.
Cook’s comments came in an open letter posted on Apple.com explaining the company’s privacy policies where he pointed out that some companies use user information for revenue purposes, implying to Google of course.
