There’s a new engine system being built for a passenger planes that can reach any destination in just 4 hours.
Reaction Engines is developing a plane with a new technology (the precooler) that allows the air entering the engine to be cooled by more than 1,000 degrees Celsius in .01 seconds giving it a much higher power to run at Mach 5 speed, five times faster than the speed of sound. The aircraft would also be able to fly in outer space.
Called Skylon, the new aircraft is around 85 meters long wont have any windows and will cost around £1.1 billion.
Skylon is planned to go into testing in 2019.
