FlexEnable, a UK-based company, showcased its flexible LCD bracelet at MWC16 this week.
The smartwatch prototype is a flexible 0.3mm organic LCD (OLCD) display which can be worn on your wrist.
Our unique technology allows electronics to be manufactured on flexible plastic film, the thickness of a sheet of paper. It combines stable, high performance organic thin-film transistors (OTFT) with passive elements to create truly flexible and cost-effective electronics over large and small surfaces, said FlexEnable.
The 4.7” OLCD is driven by FlexEnable’s flexible transistor technology, which has been used to develop glass-free, flexible and unbreakable displays, and is particularly applicable in the mobile, wearable and automotive industries. The display doesn’t have touchscreen function at this moment, but can be operated by tapping the buttons placed on the sides as a demo.
FlexEnable says it plans to collaborate with electronics makers to deliver the technology to the market.
