Meet Amazon’s Fire TV, a tiny black matte plastic box which the company claims has three times the processing power of its competitors, like Roku and Apple TV.
Fire TV will allow consumers to stream content from Amazon’s library, as well other video-on-demand services like Netflix Inc, Hulu and other video services directly to their TVs in addition to gaming. The box comes with a Bluetooth-enabled remote, which means it does not have to be pointed at the TV to work.
People play games on tablets but they want to play on TV, said Amazon’s Peter Larsen.
Amazon said that it formed partnerships with gaming firms such as Sega, EA, Disney and promises thousands of Android titles will be available for Fire TV. Users can buy a gaming controller, named Voila to use with the device.
Fire TV will cost $99 and is available immediately in the US, more details and direct buying link here.
