Facebook and Xiaomi? We definitely did not see this coming!
A report by Reuters has revealed that Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg considered making an investment in Xiaomi prior to the Chinese smartphone maker’s $1 billion funding last month.
Sources close to Reuters said that Zuckerberg discussed with Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun the potential investment during a private dinner in Beijing last month but the deal never materialized.
The source said that the investment talks were called off after Xiaomi’s CEO raised some concerns about potential political complications.
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer recently became the most successful tech start-up in the world after being valued at $45 billion.
