Facebook announced a new feature for its Facebook Messenger app – money transfers.
Facebook Messenger users will be able to send and receive money within the app itself. Sending a friend a payment can be done by tapping the “$” icon located on top of the keyboard. Tapping the icon will open a filed where users can enter an amount to send, then tap “Pay” by adding a card to make the payment.
To receive the money, users will have to open the conversation and add a card to accept the money. Funds are transferred immediately when sent through the app and will take around three business days to be available in the bank account.

Facebook said that it uses multiple layers of software and hardware to protect its payment systems. The new payments feature is rolling out in the coming months in the US across Android, iOS, and desktop.
Let’s hope we see it roll out in the Middle East soon.
