Facebook has launched another standalone app. This time, it’s Facebook Lite, a simplified version of its mobile app for low-end android devices in emerging markets.
Facebook has quietly launched the app in some countries in a bid to test it and then expand its availably. The current roll out include countries like Bangladesh,Sri Lanka, Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa and few others. The app is mainly targeted at countries with poor connectivity options and 2G networks.
TechCrunch has reported that Facebook Lite is based on Snaptu, Facebook’s feature phone client, and includes few native Android features, such as push notifications and camera integration.
