Android might be a couple years late to the party, but users of the mobile OS will finally be able to upload HD videos to Facebook. The added feature comes to the app nearly two years after the iOS version first got it.
If you go to your app’s settings, there is now an “Upload videos in HD” toggle right below the option to upload photos in HD. It’s late, considering that Android Smartphones have been able to shoot in 4K for ages now, but at least it’s here. It’s not the only addition the Android version of Facebook has gotten.
Picture-in-picture video seems to be coming to the app, which will require you to give the “draw over other apps” permission to FB, similarly to what the Twitch app is capable of doing. This will allow you to watch videos and other content on Facebook whilst having another app open. It’s the same feature that FB Messenger utilises.
And much like Netflix, Facebook users will also be able to download videos to view them offline on the Android app. This will be accompanied by the ability to select what resolution you would like to view videos in. Previously, users could only opt in and out of “HD”.
