Facebook to bring “Instant Games” to Messenger

facebook instant games

Our mobile phones have become our number one gaming device — and for many, the only gaming device.  While there’s no shortage of games for mobile, there’s often a component missing: the ability to play with friends. Facebook is planning to change that by bringing Instant Games to its Messenger app, pitting you against any of your friends for quick, fun, and competitive rounds of gaming.

Soon, you’ll be able to play with your friends on Messenger PAC-MAN, EverWing, SPACE INVADERS, TRACK & FIELD 100M, Galaga, and many other games. All you need to do is open a conversation with a friend — or group of friends — tap on the game controller icon just below where you type your message, and choose a game to start. After you’re done with your round, the other person (or persons) can then have a go and compare scores, very similar to how some games work on the most recent iMessage.

It’s rolling out soon to 30 countries for both iOS and Android, and as with all things Facebook, it will take a bit of a while for the service to be available for everyone.
