As reported a few months ago, Facebook has launched Facebook at Work, a new pilot program in testing phase aimed at penetrating the business world.
Facebook at work will let businesses create their own social networks amongst their employees with an interface that looks and acts like Facebook itself. Employers will be able to create log-ins for employees to use with their work accounts.
Employees within a company will be able to chat with one another, share news, organize events and share documents. Facebook also said that an employee’s Facebook at Work information is “safe, secure, confidential and completely separate from their personal Facebook profile,” Facebook will not gather data on corporate users.
A key feature of the app is Groups, which the company thinks could replace email lists within an organisation.
It’s still unclear if Facebook is looking to monetise the service. The official rollout is planned for some point in 2015.
Facebook at WorkThe is available to select companies in the program on the web, with Android and iOS apps available on Google Play and Apple’s App Store.
