Emirates is getting ready to become the first Mideast airline to launch an Apple Watch app to coincide with the device’s release next month.

Emirates Airline announced that its Apple Watch app will be available from April 24 and will give travellers smart features designed to complement the Emirates iPhone app.

In today’s connected world, mobile technology plays an increasingly important role in the overall travel experience of our passengers. The Apple Watch platform allows us to connect with travellers on a more personal level by providing real time information throughout their journey, said Alex Knigge, Senior Vice President, Digital at Emirates.

The Apple Watch and the Emirates app will have key features such as:

  • Review upcoming trips
  • Access to real time flight information, terminals, gate number, flight status, baggage collection details
  • Real time notifications in case of changes in schedules, gate number or baggage belt
  • Compatibility with Apple Passbook
