Doritos, a global sponsor of ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, is letting everyone get a slice of the superhero action by bringing the most iconic battle of the year into stores around the UAE. Guests at the Doritos ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ regional premiere, held on March 22 at VOX Cinema in Mall of the Emirates, were given an exclusive first look at the film and were encouraged to #WhoWillWin, as part of the superhero mania that’s taken over the bold tortilla chips brand.
‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, marks the characters’ first big-screen pairing and is due out in cinemas on March 24.
“We’re taking the ‘Batman v Superman’ fight to the stores – we want Doritos fans to decide who wins the regional clash of the superhero titans by choosing a side, by selecting a Batman or Superman-branded packet of Doritos. This is the hottest movie of 2016 and we want to make sure that our consumers are right in the middle of the action, both on-screen and off.” Mohamed Shelbaya, Vice President for PepsiCo’s Snacks Category MENA
Stores around the UAE, as well as regional markets, are currently stocked with Batman and Superman-branded Doritos flavours – including two new editions released just for the movie. These are Bat Black Pepper, representing Batman, and Super Chili, representing Superman. Doritos will turn the most popular of these two flavors into permanent member of its line-up, giving one of the two mega superheroes a permanent win over the other in some particular markets in the region.
“It’s not easy to choose between Batman or Superman – they’re both great heroes and role models who do fantastic things. Choosing your favourite Doritos flavour, however, that’s easier. Both of these new flavors were designed with the tastes and preferences of our regional audience in mind, but which superhero will win? Who will the region choose as their ultimate hero?”
To keep consumers up to date, Doritos will release regular rankings so that everyone knows which superhero is in the flavor stakes lead. These will be published on the Doritos social media channels. In addition to encouraging consumers to choose their favourite superhero, Doritos is spreading a message of positivity by partnering with orphanages around the region. “We want to demonstrate that anyone, regardless of their personal circumstances, has the potential to do something super with their life,” said Shelbaya. “Both Batman and Superman are orphans, and they are stellar role models.”
There’s just one question left to ask: who will win the clash of the tortilla titans?
