A recent Apple patent has appeared that describes solar-powered touch display technology, which can be used on devices such as the trackpad or iPhone. If this technology is every implemented, it could potentially prolong the battery life of the iPhone, Apple Watch, and any device Apple produces with a touch display.
The wireless device has a touch sensor and a solar cell that converts ambient light into electrical power. Wireless communications circuitry transmits the touch input to the external equipment using the electrical power from the solar cell. Energy storage devices such as a capacitor and a battery can be charged using the electrical power.
Apple has previously sought experts in the solar field. We really hope this technology is implemented and say goodbye to chargers.
