British Airways announced that it will be one of the first companies to have a specially developed app on the new Apple Watch when it launches on April 24.
Two elements of the app will make travel even easier for customers of the airline in the UAE, as the ‘glance’ screen on the Apple Watch face will feature flight summaries including departure time with a countdown function, and display flight status.
Customers will also benefit from timely check-in and airport gate notifications, and those using the lounges at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 on their way to or from the UAE will receive iBeacon powered welcome messages.
Investment in technology is hugely important when it comes to the aviation industry. With the advances that are being made in technology across the globe, the aviation industry is also changing and evolving in parallel, as is the passenger experience. British Airways is making huge investments that are already changing the way we interact with our customers, said Paolo De Renzis, British Airways’ Area Commercial Manager for the Middle East and Central Asia
The race to develop apps for the much anticipated Apple Watch seems to be intensifying, specially with airlines. Emirates has also announced that it will be the first Mideast airline to release an Apple Watch app on April 24.
