Swiss watch maker Breitling is getting ready to jump into the smartwatch (or something close to it) race next month with the Breitling B55 Connected.
The Breitling B55 Connected won’t be your typical Android Wear smartwatch that offers call capabilities, text and email notifications. The B55 will instead take a different approach, a more “connected” one with what the company calls “a new-generation connected chronograph.”
The watch can connect to a Breitling mobile app via Bluetooth to wirelessly communicate with a smartphone. The app lets users change time zones, adjust the watch’s digital display and analog hands, set alarms and various measurements, including flight times.
The B55 Connected has a titanium case with black carbon coating, a dial with a blue wireless symbol, a matching rubber strap, a back-light display, and a rechargeable battery via a USB port.
Breitling is targeting pilots with this watch, a segment the company heavy relies on. Pricing and availability is still unclear.
