Breaking up is a difficult phase in one’s life. Understandably, if both you and your ex are on Facebook, there is a lot of digital footprint and you may never want to see their posts again. While the best way is to simply unfriend them or block them, if for whatever reason you decide to remain connected on Facebook, the platform now offers some tools to help ease your transition into being single.
The feature will be prompted when you change your relationship back to single. It will give you the option to not see their name, hide their updates, and disable auto-tagging their names on your posts and photos and yours on theirs. You can also choose to untag yourself from all previously published material individually or en-masse.
The ex won’t be notified with any of these changes that you make. The feature is currently being tested in the United States, and may see a worldwide release if it proves useful. We personally recommend you attempt and resolve any issues offline and keep the passive-aggressive posts to a minimum (or eliminate entirely).
