The world’s first modular smartwatch has hit Kickstarter and has surpassed its $250,000 funding goal within hours of going live.

BLOCKS wants to offers an alternative to current smartwatches in the market and aims at giving more features and functionalities by adopting the modular approach. The extra modules include options like an additional battery, a SIM-card, a fingerprint sensor, gesture control, a camera module and a heart rate monitor.
The basic BLOCKS package can be yours for $195 and includes the Core face and strap, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a microphone for voice controls, a battery that lasts 1.5 days and sensors for activity tracking. For $250, backers can add three additional modules. Blocks is compatible with iOS and Android via Bluetooth.
Currently the additional module include:
- Extra Battery Module
- Heart Rate Module
- GPS Module
- NFC Payment Module
- Adventure Module
BLOCKS says it plans to add more in the near future.
