The TRA has blocked access to BBM’s new “Channels” feature across in the UAE reported The National. Etisalat and du said yesterday that the service is not available anymore for customers.
The service, on BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry OS devices – enables BlackBerry users, be they companies or individuals, to create channels linked to their profiles, that other users can subscribe to for updates.
The TRA hasn’t issued an official statement yet .
UPDATE: tbreak contacted Blackberry and got this response:
“We understand that BBM Channels is not currently available to some BlackBerry customers in the UAE. We are working with our partners in the UAE to ensure their customers are able to enjoy the premier messaging experience of BBM and we will continue to work together to resolve any issues preventing people from using BBM Channels.”
