Asus is going head to head with Apple in the battle for the thinnest laptop. The company introduced its new ZenBook at Computex in Taipei.
During the announcement, Asus talked about how the new ZenBook was thinner, lighter and more powerful than Apple’s MacBook and MacBook Air product range.
The new laptop is 11.9mm thin, weighs 910g, and has a 12.5-inch, thin bezel display at a 1920×1080 resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The aerospace grade aluminium body laptop features configurations up to Core i7 with 16GB memory and 1 TB storage option.

Similar to Apple’s Macbook, the device will have only one USB 3.0 Type-C port. Other features include a fingerprint sensor through the touchpad, and a harmon/kardon speaker system.

The ZenBook 3 will start with an entry-level model for $999 packing an Core i5 CPU, 256GB SSD, and 4GB of RAM, at goes up to $1,999 for the Core i7 CPU, 1TB PCIe SSD, and 16GB of RAM model. Colour wise, the ZenBook 3 will be available in Royal Blue, Rose Gold and Quartz Grey.
