Mac users rejoice! Apple will release its first public beta of OS X Yosemite today. The public-beta program was announced during Apple’s annual developer conference in June.
Users will be able to download and test pre-release versions of OS X. Apple says the first million users to sign up at the OS X Beta Program website will be able to test Yosemite before the OS is released to the general public in the fall.
Users who sign up will receive a code to enter in the Mac App Store, which will then point them to an installer app that will be download. Once Yosemite is installed, users will start to receive future updates to the beta software via the system’s standard Software Update functionality.
