Rumours of an improved camera for Apple’s next iPhone have been circulating for a while now, and many have complained about the company sticking to 8MP on the iPhone 6, despite it being on par or better (depending on the scenario) than competitors. A Business Insider report, though, revealed through a person working in the supply chain that Apple will indeed be upgrading the camera to 12MP, with additional improvements.
The additional megapixel count is definitely welcome, but most photographers will tell you that it isn’t the only metric that makes up a technically-good photo. So in addition to the higher megapixels, Apple is also working on improving the lens elements to work with the new resolution, and the larger sensor will allow for more details in addition to more light being captured.
We’re definitely looking forward to the new and improved camera. The iPhone 6 definitely has one of the best cameras on the market, but is certainly due for an upgrade to keep up with the competition.
