During Apple’s quarterly earnings conference call, Tim Cook revealed that Apple Music has now surpassed the 13 million paying subscribers mark, up by 2 million since February.
We are very happy with the continued strong growth in revenue from Services, thanks to the incredible strength of the Apple ecosystem and our growing base of over one billion active devices, Tim Cook said.
The number of paid subscriptions is still low compared to its rival Spotify, which is estimated to have around 30 million subscribers as of last month. But at the rate Apple Music is moving, we think things will change pretty fast, specially if we compare the time it took Spotify to reach 30 million (around 6 years) vs the time Apple music took to reach its 13 million subscribers (less than a year).
Apple Music launched in more than 100 countries on June 30, 2015.
