It seems that apple is not alone in breaking records and selling more iPhones than ever before. In 2014, Android also broke the record, according to an analyst firm who said that one billion smartphones running Google’s mobile OS were shipped over a 12 month period.
Strategy Analytics reported that Android grew 30% in 2014 and that the growth will continue in 2015 with countries like China and India contributing to the increase. Android handsets now make up for 81.2% of the global Smartphone market as of the end of 2014.
It’s important to note that Apple’s metrics rely on actual devices sold to users while Android smartphones are counted by devices shipped.
