Acer’s Aspire series of PCs has seen a newly refreshed lineup at CES 2017 which has introduced two new laptops and a desktop. Both the Aspire V Nitro & Aspire VX 15 notebooks house some of the latest Nvidia graphics cards, a fact that also holds true for the Acer Aspire GX desktop computer that the company has unveiled at CES. The GX subset is Acer’s newest addition to the Aspire series.
According to Acer, the Aspire V Nitro Black Edition models (V Nitro 17 and V Nitro 15) and the Aspire VX Notebooks are perfect for people who yearn for a crisp visual experience. Such an experience is delivered thanks to the IPS displays, 7th generation Intel Core Processors and Nvidia graphics cards.
For instance, the Aspire V 17 Nitro Black Edition comes with a 17.3-inch IPS display, that has an optional integrated Tobii eye-tracking hardware to help boost productivity and in-game immersion via simple eye movements. On the performance side of things, the Aspire V 17 houses an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or 1050 TI GPU and up to 16 GB of RAM. The RAM can be upgraded up to 32 GB with two soDIMM modules. For storage purposes, there will be a SATA SSD drive, and a hard drive with up to 2 TB capacity. Exact specifications will depend on the region of sale. The Aspire V 15 boasts the exact same performance specifications but has a smaller, 15-inch display instead. Users can opt for a 4K (3840×2160) ultra HD Display panel for either laptop.
Thankfully, Acer hasn’t stripped the I/O ports to only one standard. Users will be able to utilise a USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt™ 3 for speeds up to 40Gbps and support for dual 4K video output simultaneously, two USB 3.0 ports (one featuring power-off USB charging), two USB 2.0 ports, and an HDMI connection. For an internet connection, it has 2×2 802.11ac MU-MIMO technology, while a Gigabit Ethernet port is available for wired connectivity needs.
Both the V 15 & the V 17 come with fingerprint sensors.
At first glance, the Aspire VX 15 looks like one of Acer’s Predator gaming laptops. It has large cooling vents and an edgy red chassis, complemented by red backlit keys. Weighing in at 5.5lbs (2.5kg), the Aspire VX 15 also comes with up to a 7th Generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, and with up to a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics with GDDR5 VRAM (delivering up to 32GB/s bandwidth). Multitasking is boosted by the 16GB of DDR4 memory out of the box that can, much like the Aspire Nitro Series, be upgraded to a maximum of 32GB. Storage is provided by a 512GB SSD and 1TB HDD.
Now for those gamers who are a bit more grounded, Acer have also unveiled the Acer Aspire GX series of desktop PCs.These VR Ready PCs come equipped with up to 7th Generation Intel Core processors, up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM, and up to Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1070 graphics. What’s more, they’re capable of delivering stunning 4K resolution visuals and support up to 4 displays at once for maximised gaming experiences. Also, there’s no shortage of storage with up to a 3TB HDD and a 256GB SSD, and sports a handy Wireless Charging Deck for keeping users’ mobile devices powered up and ready to go. To top it all off, the GX series also boasts the same edgy design that PC gamers seem to love, including red LED lighting.
