2016 has been quite the year for gadgets, smartphones, laptops and all other manners of devices. We here at Absolute Geeks have compiled a list of our favourite products that we’ve reviewed along with an easy way to purchase them through JadoPado.com.
Bose QuietComfort 35
Noise-cancelling headphones are peculiar little wonders of technology; they isolate you from the busiest of surroundings, shielding you from the noisy world by placing you in your own little universe. While Bose isn’t new to noise-cancelling headphones, they’ve upped the ante by getting rid of any wiring and going all wireless with Bluetooth. This versatility alone places the QuietComfort 35 in a position high above the competition and its own other headphones. The best news, though, is that the battery life is simply incredible…..
“If you’re looking for unparalleled noise-cancellation and you’re OK with a more or less flat equaliser, then the Bose QuietComfort 35 is perfect for you.”

Apple Watch Nike+
Apple’s clear target audience for this particular watch model are runners, or those interested in running – like myself. The running community is strong (stronger than many other sports, I presume, although cycling groups are massive too), but it’s also a natural human activity. In collaboration with Nike, it’s bringing this model of the Apple Watch in tandem with its focus on fitness and all the new upgrades that Apple Watch Series 2 has brought to the table….
“If you’re an athlete of any level, or interested in being one, and are considering an Apple Watch, then the Nike+ edition is the right one for you.”

UE Boom 2
“Music. Whenever, Wherever, Whatever” – This appears to be the motto for the new UE Boom 2 Bluetooth speaker from Ultimate Ears (a subsidiary of Logitech). I’ll admit, the old school Shakira song did pop into my head when I read that…….
“For its size, it boasts a powerful sound and is perfect for audiophiles who like to travel with a handheld speaker.”

Apple Macbook 2016
The Macbook was meant to do one thing, compress and smoothen the user experience with a lightweight machine and it did that rather well. A better keyboard, Retina Display, Force Touch-enabled trackpad and of course a sleek look. Again the iPad Pro’s have also fit in the “PC replacement” category and it’s now a question as to how the second generation of a great device fits in….
“For Apple laptop lovers, obsessed with a certain design aesthetic, who are willing to ignore the inconvenience of a single port, and who aren’t put off by the price, the new Macbook won’t be a tough sell.”

Huawei Honor 8
The Honor lineup of smartphones could be described as the tail of a comet. They’re fantastic flagship smartphones that just aren’t at the top when compared to the likes of Samsung, Apple, or even their sister brand, Huawei. The Honor 8 was seen as a step to revitalize the brand and to lend credibility to the term “affordable flagship smartphone”.
“Its premium design, great cameras, and beastly performance instantly put it up there with the likes of the Huawei P9 and other medium to high-end flagship smartphones.”

Moto Z
Modular phones sound like a great concept; instead of getting a brand new phone, why don’t you just upgrade parts of your existing smartphone? Speakers aren’t loud enough yet to pass off as an amplifier? Get a modular speaker add-on. Instagram pictures still aren’t aesthetic enough? Slot on a new lens…..
“The Moto Z looks to be the current leader when it comes to modular smartphones and as far as news goes, no other company is close to toppling it.”

Sony PS4 Pro
It is more powerful than the current PS4, with twice the GPU oomph and an extra GB of RAM. That said, the PS4 Pro is fully compatible with all current and future titles on the PS4, and developers are required to support both versions of the PS4 in all their games. What this means is that you don’t absolutely have to upgrade, though if you do choose to upgrade, you’ll get some benefits….
“The PS4 Pro will provide you with the best experience in future games. You’ll get the most benefit if you have — or are planning to have — a 4K TV, particularly one which supports HDR.”

Apple iPhone 7
The iPhone 7 is here. It’s at once very familiar yet radically different – a divisive phone that boldly challenges the conventions and status quo of technology – yet shies away from its true potential to pave way for next year’s 10th anniversary design…..
“The iPhone 7 is a refined user experience that grows on you; the iPhone feels “alive”, as it were.”

Samsung Gear Fit 2
In today’s busy – and competitive – world, fitness trackers have found their places on the wrists of many, motivating us to move and exercise and show us progress over time. For any athlete – or anyone for that matter – the sense of progress is what keeps people going and moving. With the plethora of fitness trackers out there, how can we choose the best one?
“Samsung’s Gear Fit 2 clearly distinguishes itself from the rest of Samsung’s wearables in that it dedicates itself to mostly fitness tracking. Sure, you do get some app notifications, but the watch’s primary function – and all the features built around it – focus on your fitness and activities.”

Anki Overdrive
Remember 90’s slot car racing ? Scalextric racing with remote controls were definitely the moment of me being a kid. Anki Overdrive is a modern recreation of that which enhances the experience of putting the remote on your phone. Overdrive is based on the old platform of Anki Drive that was riddled with bugs when it first came out in 2014. Overdrive, I’m happy to note, fixes all that and has ever since been addictive….
“It’s an ideal birthday gift or Christmas present especially if you have a family and want to buy one. Sure you can buy it for your kid but it’s very likely you’re going to fight them to play it more.”
