YouTube Premium subscribers in the UAE and several other countries are facing a significant price increase. The hike, affecting both individual and family plans, has sparked frustration among users who question the value proposition of the service.
In the UAE, single subscriptions now cost 26.99 AED, up from 23.99 AED, while family plans have increased from 35.99 AED to 48.99 AED. Similar increases have been implemented in various European countries, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Colombia, and Thailand.
Google attributes the price changes to the need to maintain service quality and support content creators. However, the increases have led to cancellations and comparisons to the combined cost of other streaming platforms.
This latest round of price hikes follows similar increases in the United States earlier this year, raising concerns about potential future increases in other regions as well.
