TikTok has expanded its music‑saving feature to include YouTube Music, giving users another option for adding songs they discover on the platform directly to their preferred streaming service.
The feature, which lets viewers save tracks from TikTok videos into playlists on external music platforms, was first launched in the U.S. and U.K. in November 2023 with support for Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. By early 2024, it had rolled out to more than 160 countries, and TikTok has gradually added other services such as Deezer and SoundCloud.
With the latest update, YouTube Music joins the lineup. When a video plays a track, users can tap the “Add Song” button located beneath the clip’s description, next to the track name. From there, they can select YouTube Music as the destination. Once linked, songs are automatically added to a TikTok Songs playlist within YouTube Music.
Users can set their chosen streaming service as the default for future saves or change it at any time through the Musicsection in TikTok’s settings. This flexibility allows people to switch platforms without losing the ability to quickly collect music from videos they watch.
TikTok says the Add to Music App tool has generated significant activity across streaming platforms, with hundreds of millions of saved tracks leading to billions of plays. The company positions the integration as a way to benefit both users—who get a seamless link between video content and their music library—and the music industry, which gains additional exposure and streams.
By bringing YouTube Music into the mix, TikTok now covers most of the major streaming platforms, reinforcing its position as a driver of music discovery. For creators and labels, it’s another way for songs to move from viral video moments to long‑term listening habits.
