Telegram adds music playlists to profiles, upgrades gifts, and refreshes UI

Telegram has rolled out its latest update, adding another layer of personalization and utility to the platform. The August 2025 release introduces music in profiles, customizable default tabs, expanded gift features, and upgraded sticker tools, alongside some platform-specific design tweaks.

The headline feature is music integration in profiles. Users can now pin tracks to a bar beneath their profile photo, effectively turning profiles into mini playlists. To add music, you simply tap an audio file in any chat and select Add to profile. Anyone visiting your profile can see what’s currently playing and scroll through the playlist you’ve built. It’s a small change but one that brings Telegram closer to being a social hub rather than just a messaging app.

Android users are also getting a UI refresh with smoother animations—ported over from iOS after a developer contest earlier this year. Another personalization tweak allows you to set a default tab for your profile, letting visitors land directly on your gifts, stories, or archived posts instead of just your main feed.

Telegram’s gifts system is evolving as well. Users can now apply custom wallpapers to chats using unique attributes from their collected gifts. Each gift can only be tied to one chat, adding a bit of exclusivity. On top of that, Telegram now lets you upgrade gifts by sending Stars, trade them with others, and track their approximate resale value, average prices, and other stats—introducing a collector economy within the app.

For creators, the Stickers Mini App has been upgraded to include not only stickers but also custom emoji, along with usage statistics. This makes it easier for designers and fans alike to see which packs and emoji are actually gaining traction.

The update is now available on PC, macOS, Android, and iOS. One thing still missing, however, is the much-teased Telegram x Grok partnership that Pavel Durov hyped earlier this year. Elon Musk later suggested the announcement was premature, and for now, there’s no sign of it in the new release.
