Spotify is adding another layer to its live music discovery tools with a new feature that lets users follow specific concert venues directly from the app. The update gives fans an easier way to stay informed about upcoming shows, venue announcements, and artist appearances — all without leaving Spotify.
Once a venue is followed, it’s saved in the user’s library, appearing alongside playlists, artists, and podcasts. From there, users can browse an event calendar, view concert details, and even filter upcoming shows by genre — useful for narrowing down options at larger venues that host a mix of acts. Spotify has also updated its live events feed, which now refreshes daily instead of weekly to provide more up-to-date listings.
The feature integrates with Spotify’s existing ticketing partnerships. When users tap on an event, they’re directed to external sellers like Live Nation or Ticketmaster to purchase tickets. Spotify briefly experimented with selling tickets directly in 2022 but has since stepped back from that business model, focusing instead on discovery and curation.
This move builds on Spotify’s earlier efforts to tie streaming habits to real-world experiences. The company’s “Concerts Near You” playlist, launched earlier this year, automatically compiles 30 songs from artists scheduled to perform nearby, turning local shows into personalized listening recommendations.
Competitors are exploring similar directions. SoundCloud, for instance, teamed up with Ticketmaster and Live Nation earlier in 2025 to help artists list upcoming gigs directly on their profiles. The growing emphasis on live event integration reflects how major music platforms are expanding beyond streaming — into connecting artists, venues, and fans in the physical world.
By making venue pages followable, Spotify is essentially turning its app into a hybrid between a music library and a digital events guide, making it easier for fans to go from streaming their favorite artist to catching them live on stage.
