Earlier this year, it was reported that Spotify would launch in the MENA region by the end of 2018. From open positions for the region to Arabic curated playlists popping up to users, the launch seemed to be imminent.
It now seems that Spotify has officially launched in some countries though invites. Spotify appears to be live in Lebanon, Jordan, UAE, KSA, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria. Invite pages for each country went live for a brief period of time and then went back to the standard “Not Available in your country” message.
Spotify is set to compete with the regional leader Anghami, alongside Deezer who recently received an investment from Saudi prince Alwaleed Bin Talal.
