Soundcore Space 2 brings 70-hour battery and improved noise canceling

The Soundcore Space 2 enters the crowded market of affordable noise-canceling headphones with a clear objective: improve active noise cancellation, refine sound tuning, and extend battery life without pushing past the $150 threshold. Announced at Mobile World Congress, the $130 over-ear model replaces its predecessor with a more considered approach to the weaknesses that often define budget ANC headphones.

In practical terms, the Soundcore Space 2 focuses heavily on low-frequency noise reduction. Budget active noise cancellation typically struggles with the deep, persistent hum of train engines, aircraft cabins, and HVAC systems. Soundcore says it has adjusted its four-stage ANC system to better address that bass-heavy interference. In early listening tests on public transit and in office settings, the reduction in low-end rumble is more noticeable than before, creating a calmer listening environment without dramatically altering audio playback.

Audio hardware also sees incremental but meaningful changes. The new double-layer 40mm drivers combine a silk diaphragm with a metal-ceramic layer, a design intended to stabilize driver movement and reduce distortion. The previous generation leaned toward elevated bass that occasionally masked midrange detail. The Soundcore Space 2 presents a tighter low end and clearer vocals, particularly in podcasts and acoustic tracks. It does not compete with high-end audiophile headphones, but within its price bracket, the tuning feels more balanced and less exaggerated.

Support for Sony’s LDAC codec is another addition. LDAC can stream at bitrates up to 990 kbps when paired with compatible Android devices and services. While wireless audio remains compressed compared to wired playback, LDAC can reduce artifacts in well-recorded material. For listeners using high-quality streaming tiers, this inclusion offers more flexibility than the standard SBC or AAC codecs typically found at this price.

Call clarity has also been revised. The Soundcore Space 2 uses AI-assisted noise reduction to separate speech from background sounds. In windy outdoor conditions and moderately busy streets, voice pickup is clearer than the previous model, though not entirely immune to environmental interference. For remote workers and commuters, the improvement makes the headphones more usable for everyday calls without positioning them as a professional conferencing tool.

Battery life is one of the stronger selling points. Soundcore rates the Space 2 at up to 50 hours with active noise cancellation enabled and up to 70 hours with ANC turned off. That figure exceeds many competitors in the same price range and reduces the need for frequent charging. A five-minute quick charge provides several hours of playback, offering a practical safeguard for travel days.

The headphones retain familiar features such as wear detection for auto-pause, a foldable design, and app-based EQ customization through Soundcore’s companion app. HearID 3.0 remains available, allowing users to create a personalized sound profile based on their hearing sensitivity. For some listeners, this personalization delivers more noticeable improvements than manual EQ adjustments.

At $130, the Soundcore Space 2 positions itself as a pragmatic choice for commuters, students, and remote workers seeking long battery life and improved ANC performance without stepping into premium pricing. It does not redefine the category, but it narrows the gap between entry-level and midrange noise-canceling headphones. For buyers comparing affordable ANC headphones in 2026, the Soundcore Space 2 represents a more balanced and technically refined option than its predecessor.
