Snapchat finally embraces iPads, but with a portrait-only twist

Snapchat has finally caught up with the times, rolling out native support for iPads in its latest iOS update. This means iPad users can now enjoy a full-screen Snapchat experience, capturing Snaps on a larger canvas and seeing more friends on their tabs.

However, there’s a catch: the app currently functions only in portrait mode, a limitation that seems rather odd for an app designed for a larger screen. Despite this drawback, the update is a significant step forward, potentially enticing more iPad owners to use the platform on their tablets.

Snapchat acknowledges that this is just the first step, stating in the changelog: “It’s still the same Snapchat you know and love, but this time on the big screen.” We can expect further refinements to the iPad experience in future updates.

The lack of native iPad support has been a long-standing issue for Snapchat, especially when compared to other major apps. Notably, Instagram still hasn’t embraced iPads with open arms. This update positions Snapchat ahead of the curve, showcasing its commitment to evolving with user needs and technology trends.
