Shazam breaks through the headphones barrier (finally!)

Shazam has received a significant upgrade with its version 17.3 update, enhancing its already popular song identification capabilities. Now available for download on the App Store, this update introduces a new feature – the ability to identify songs while using headphones, whether wired or Bluetooth. This marks a substantial improvement, especially considering the previous limitation that restricted this functionality to instances where no headphones were connected.

The update caters to a wide range of headphones and earbuds, including popular options like AirPods, AirPods Max, and third-party alternatives. Notably, the feature is not exclusive to Apple accessories, ensuring compatibility with various devices.

In the words of the app’s release notes, “You can now identify music while wearing headphones (wired or Bluetooth).” To use this feature, users simply need to open the app, confirm headphone connectivity with the displayed headphone icon, and proceed to identify music in their surroundings or within apps such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
