Sennheiser launches Profile Wireless Mic for solo creators with 32-bit float audio

Sennheiser has introduced a streamlined, one-channel version of its Profile Wireless microphone system, targeting solo content creators and users looking for a compact, high-quality audio solution. Alongside the new hardware, the company has also released a firmware update enabling 32-bit float audio recording across the entire Profile Wireless lineup, addressing growing demand for greater dynamic range in field and studio recordings.

The new Profile Wireless 1-channel system is designed with mobility and simplicity in mind. It includes a clip-on microphone with a magnetic mount and mini windshield, a two-channel receiver (the same unit used in the original dual-mic version), USB-C and Lightning adapters, a camera cable, and a shoe mount. Sennheiser has opted to replace the charging bar found in the two-channel kit with an extra USB charging cable, making the package more portable and cost-effective for individual users.

Though configured for single-mic operation, the system remains expandable, allowing users to add a second mic without replacing the receiver. The full kit comes packed in a compact, rugged pouch, making it practical for field use, travel, or on-location shoots.

Performance-wise, the system is built for flexibility. It works with smartphones, laptops, and cameras, and can function as a wireless boom mic setup when paired with external microphones like the Sennheiser MKE 400. Each transmitter offers up to seven hours of battery life and internal memory capable of storing up to 30 hours of audio—features that are particularly valuable for mobile creators capturing long-form interviews, podcasts, or documentaries.

Coinciding with the hardware launch, Sennheiser has rolled out firmware version V4.1.0, adding 32-bit float recording support to all Profile Wireless systems. This capability leverages dual A/D converters in the transmitters to deliver a single, wide-dynamic-range audio stream, helping creators preserve detail in high-volume environments and avoid clipped audio. For those who prioritize storage efficiency, the firmware also retains 24-bit recording with an optional Safety Channel Mode that captures a duplicate signal at -6dB.

This update aligns Profile Wireless with a growing trend in the audio industry, where creators increasingly demand tools that balance ease of use with professional-grade features. Whether recording dialogue, narration, or ambient sound, the ability to capture nuanced dynamics without manual gain adjustment offers practical advantages, particularly in fast-paced or unpredictable shooting environments.

Available immediately, the Profile Wireless 1-channel microphone system is priced at USD 199 / EUR 199 / GBP 169. While it targets solo users, the system retains room to grow, offering an entry point into higher-end wireless audio without requiring a full commitment upfront.
